Welcome to the homepage of The Applied Master’s degree program of Economics at Florida State University. The Applied Master’s degree teaches students skills that are useful for a professional economist.  The core courses are totally separate from the Ph.D. courses, enabling a focus on tools used by practicing economists.  These tools emphasize the use of statistical estimates of economic relationships, instead of the traditional mathematical emphasis of a Ph.D. program.  The program consists of learning statistical tools and communicating economic concepts.  Due to the high degree of interaction the program is kept to a small number of students; typically only 20 Masters students are admitted each year, thus there is a high degree of interaction among students.
