Internship Opportunities

Internships

Internships are invaluable way to prepare for life after graduation. They can provide a better understanding of the industry in which you are employed, improve your resume, provide valuable work experience, and you can spend a summer with bright and motivated college students from around the world. The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy strongly encourages you to seek internship opportunities.

The College has a working agreement with Dream Careers, a private firm that provides internships in a wide variety of industries in major cities both here and abroad. Students from the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy are not required to pay the application fee and receive a $500 discount on program fees. You can explore the Dream Careers program at www.sumerinternships.com. The College representative for Dream Careers is Jeremiah Fisher. He can be reached at jfisher@fsu.edu.

Undergraduate internship programs are also listed by the Department of Political Science at http://polsci.fsu.edu/undergraduate/internships.htm

Florida State University’s International Program Office offers internships in London, England; Florence, Italy; Sydney, Australia; Panama City, Republic of Panama; Iquitos, Peru; and Valencia, Spain. http://international.fsu.edu/Types/In/Internship.aspx.

Some units of the College offer undergraduate internship courses that enable students to obtain course credits for their internships. These programs also keep a record of internships in Florida and in Washington D.C. that are available for undergraduate students. International Study

Preparing to work in a global economy and to be an informed citizen in an increasingly interdependent world should be a high priority for students in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. We encourage students to study abroad, engage in international service projects, and obtain internships outside the U.S.

For information about international education go to Global Pathways at http://global.fsu.edu.

The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy gives a limited number of travel grants for international study every year. These scholarships are funded by generous alumni and friends of the College. Applications for these scholarships are available at the International Affairs office, BEL 211.
