New Faculty in Economics
The Department of Economics is delighted to welcome two new faculty, both new assistant professors, in the Fall of 2012.
Javier Cano Urbina, a specialist in Labor and Development Economics, will be joining the department from the Ph.D. program at The University of Western Ontario, where he will complete his degree this summer. A native of Mexico, Javier presented his research at his job seminar on how the informal labor sector in Mexico provides opportunities for workers to develop on-the-job skills.
Sebastian J. Goerg received his doctoral degree in 2010 from the University of Bonn, and he has been completing a post-doctoral position at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods. Sebastian will also be a member of the Florida State University Experimental Social Sciences cluster.
His research interests focus on the economics of employment and personnel relationships.
