The mission of the Stavros Center is to further free enterprise and economic education in the public schools and communities within our 12-county service area: Bay, Calhoun, Gadsden, Franklin, Gulf, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla Counties. In order to accomplish its mission, the Center's specific objectives include:
Staff Assistance: Provide staff assistance to 12 school districts for development and implementation of economic education materials;
Community Involvement: Work with community leaders to provide speakers on subjects relative to all areas of free enterprise and economic education;
Educational Services: Offer inservice, workshops, seminars, and graduate credit courses designed to promote a better understanding of economic issues for teachers, university students, and local citizens;
Library Services: Provide a loan service for books, lesson plans, film strips, films, slides, videotapes, games, and information on sources for new materials;
Product Development: Develop new and creative materials and approaches for teaching economics including the development of computer software;
Networking: Provide information to school districts and classroom teachers via Free-Net and Internet networks.
